HandbookScribe Pro

HandbookScribe Pro is purpose-built reporting software for vocational evaluators, rehabilitation consultants, and career counsellors working with the Canadian Career Handbook. It replaces the tedious manual work of looking up occupational ratings and writing up tables with a fast, searchable interface that generates professionally formatted Word reports and AI-ready XML exports in seconds — letting you include exactly the information you need, formatted exactly how you want it.

939 occupations at your fingertips. The complete Career Handbook 2016 dataset from Employment and Social Development Canada is bundled into the software — every rating on every occupation, plus the narrative text that only lives on the NOC website. No hunting through multiple pages, no copy-paste. Type any part of a job title or CH code to instantly filter the list, check the occupations you want, and move on. For power users, a paste box accepts comma-separated CH codes so you can load a known set in seconds.

All fourteen Career Handbook sections in one report. Include the six rated profiles — Aptitudes, Interests, Data/People/Things, Physical Activities, Environmental Conditions, Education/Training — alongside the eight narrative sections: Description, Main Characteristics, Example Job Titles, Workplaces and Employers, Employment Requirements, Exclusions, Occupational Options, and Remarks. Toggle anything on or off per report and reorder sections to match your preferred document layout.

Filter to the level of detail you want. Every rated section has its own configurable filter. Show only top-quartile aptitudes, only Primary interests, only Frequent physical demands — any combination, across all six scales the Career Handbook uses. Filter the nine GATB aptitude factors or the five interest categories down to just the ones relevant to your client's profile. Education requirements can be filtered down to the specific training paths that match the case.

Demonstrated Aptitude reports. A specialized Word output designed for transferable-skills analysis: select any number of occupations and produce a two-table summary showing the nine GATB factors across every occupation, plus a "demonstrated aptitude profile" row that rolls up the best rating achieved on each factor across the set — the baseline aptitude a worker has already demonstrated through prior work history.

Side-by-side comparison reports. Select exactly two occupations and generate a comparison document where every section becomes a two-column table — one column per occupation — so you can see at a glance where two roles differ on specific aptitudes, physical demands, or narrative requirements. Filter settings apply equally to both sides for a clean comparison.

Four professional table styles. Pick the look that matches your report — Basic (clean black borders and gray headers), Modern (blue accent, subtle zebra striping), Elegant (minimalist with bold accent rules), or Bold (strong high-contrast header bands). Choose any font installed on your system and size from 7 to 24 point.

Multiple output formats from one click. Check any combination: one Word document per occupation, one combined document with all selected occupations together, a side-by-side comparison of two occupations, a Demonstrated Aptitude report, individual XML files, or a combined XML file. Need all at once? Check all. The combined Word option can also include an automatically-generated Table of Contents for long reports.

XML export for AI workflows. Every Word report can also be generated as a structured XML file, with the same filters applied. Feed the XML to any AI chatbot and get instant analysis, occupation comparisons, or client-ready summaries based on exactly the data you've curated — without having to trust the AI's own knowledge of the Career Handbook.

Save your configurations as profiles. Different cases need different material. Save any combination of font, style, selected sections, section order, rating filters, and factor filters as a named profile and switch between them with one click.

Professional Word output. Generated documents include proper table formatting, prevented row breaks across pages, automatically repeating header rows on multi-page tables, clean punctuation, and an optional Table of Contents for combined reports. Everything is designed to drop straight into a professional assessment report with no cleanup.

Your data stays on your computer. HandbookScribe Pro runs entirely on your machine. There's no cloud service and no AI processing. The Career Handbook data is bundled into the software itself.

You stay in control. HandbookScribe Pro doesn't make professional opinions or decisions about which occupations suit your clients. It just handles the mechanical work of pulling the right data from the database and formatting it into report-ready tables. You decide which occupations to include, which sections matter for your case, and how the final document fits into your assessment.
