ScribeForge OCR Pro
ScribeForge OCR Pro is professional OCR software built for anyone who works with large volumes of scanned PDFs. It combines a high-speed batch OCR engine with a built-in document viewer, powerful cross-document search, and a visual PDF assembler — turning what used to be tedious text conversion into a streamlined, one-click workflow.
Batch OCR at scale. Load dozens or hundreds of PDFs at once and OCR them in a single run. A checkbox next to each file lets you control exactly what gets processed. The status bar shows per-file progress, overall progress, and a live time-remaining estimate so you know exactly when the batch will finish. You can pause, resume, or stop at any time — and selectively re-run just the files that need another pass.
Built-in PDF viewer and text panel. See every page of every PDF without leaving the program. The viewer shows pages instantly on load with smooth zooming, rotation, and quick page-jump navigation. A synchronized text panel beside the viewer shows the extracted text from the current page, with low-confidence words highlighted so you can quickly spot anything the OCR engine wasn't sure about.
Full-text search across every document. Type a word or phrase and instantly find every match across every loaded PDF. Results show as a tree organized by document and page. Click a result and the viewer jumps directly to that page with the matched words highlighted in orange. Case-sensitive, whole-word, and regex modes let you search exactly the way you need to.
Cleanup for messy scans. The built-in Prep tool cleans up difficult scans before OCR: converts to grayscale, boosts contrast, thresholds to pure black and white, and auto-rotates sideways or upside-down pages. You pick the options that fit your source material, and every page is preserved — page numbers never change.
Handles password-protected PDFs. Before OCR starts, ScribeForge automatically detects password-protected files. A dialog lets you enter passwords for each locked file with instant verification, skip individual files for this run, or remove them entirely. Wrong passwords can be retried until they work. Once entered, passwords are remembered for next time.
PDF Assembler. A visual split and merge tool with thumbnail previews. Click any page thumbnail to add it to your output, reorder pages with the move buttons, rotate pages 90 degrees, and save the result as a new PDF. Works across multiple source files — so you can pull page 10 from one file, pages 50-100 from another, and a single page from a third, all in one output. Perfect for splitting a 500-page scan into individual documents, or merging related files into one.
Per-file page ranges. Only need pages 10-20 of a 500-page scan? Right-click the file and set a page range like "10-20" or "1-20, 50-100" — OCR will process only those pages.
Professional export options. Save your OCR'd content as Word documents, plain text files, or structured XML — either one file per PDF or everything combined into a single file. A summary report shows statistics across your whole project including confidence scores, low-confidence pages that might need rescanning, and total word counts.
Save your entire project. Loaded PDFs, OCR results, page ranges, passwords, and all your settings save into a single project file. Close the program and pick up exactly where you left off the next day — no reprocessing needed.
Your data stays on your computer. ScribeForge OCR Pro runs entirely on your machine. OCR processing happens locally using the industry-standard Tesseract engine — no cloud services, no subscriptions, no data ever leaves your computer. There is nothing to configure and nothing that can go wrong with a network connection.
You stay in control. ScribeForge OCR Pro doesn't make judgments or decisions about your documents — it just turns scanned pages into searchable, selectable, exportable text. You decide which files get processed, which pages need attention, and how the output is organized.
